The many years of medical nutrition therapy (MNT) experience, as well as her own personal experience, inspired her to open her own nutrition business in 2010 which emphasizes a more healthy approach and provides education on options.  As the coordinator of Integrated Optimal Health’s programs Marie has developed diabetes education programs that emphasize healthy diet and

At Choice Center for Diabetes we approach the patient as a whole which includes: individualized diets, lifestyle changes such as individualized exercise and stress reduction, client support and health coaching. We provide education on options, advocate healthier choices and provide access to programs needed to help each person better manage their own diabetes.

Marie states:  “It is the person that suffers the consequences of their poor health, and once they are educated on options, they should have the ultimate say in which option they choose to get or stay well. It’s Your Health and Your Choice®.”

It is estimated that 1 in 3 adult Americans will have diabetes by 2050!  Diabetes becomes more common as people grow older.  Approximately 40% of adults aged 20 or older with diabetes in the U.S. are unaware they have diabetes.

“The focus of our program is to get back to the basics and help people with diabetes better control their blood sugars through a combination of meal planning, exercise, weight loss as appropriate, medications/insulin as needed, and other lifestyle changes such as stress reduction” explains Marie Veselsky MS, RD, LD, CDE, BC-ADM and Owner/Coordinator for Choice Center for Diabetes.

Initially, a newly diagnosed patient with diabetes may wish to have the majority of decisions made by the health care team, at least until he or she becomes more familiar with the cost and benefits of various options in diabetes self-care. The goal would be for the person with diabetes to play a more active role in their own diabetes care.
